This piece was created for an exhibition in Turku, Finland. Using the Finnish sauna as a point of reference, we built a structure whose intended use was that of a cleansing ritual, but rather than utilizing heat and steam our sauna relied on sound. Like the active elements within a sauna, the sound is at first abrasive and uncomfortable, but over time becomes soothing and relaxing, ultimately cleansing. Some participants remarked that the experience was near psychedelic.
